INA210: INA210 curren sense issue(Load >20A)

Part Number: INA210

When C421/C423 used with 0.01uF cap, output of INA210 would be bias to set point curve, shown as red curve when load added.

When C421/C423 used with 470pF cap, the bias would be smaller.

Why the filter cap value would impact of INA210 work? Can you share me the reason? Thanks!

  • Hi user4359409,

For our current shunt monitors we recommend only differential input filters, not common mode input filters. You can find the recommendations on page 15 of the datasheet. The reason behind this is that the common mode capacitors (C421/C423) are creating an extra delay in the output response. The higher the Ccm, higher the delay.

I discussed with design and they mentioned you should see what is your DC level. Even thou these common mode capacitors are delaying your result they should all meet in the DC level result.

We recommend you use a Differential filter only, to avoid the mentioned delay and follow series resistance recommendations of the datasheet.
