INA220: The negative overshoot on power supply pin during power up

Part Number: INA220

Hi Team,

There is a -1V overshoot at power supply Vs pin of INA220 during power up,the overshoot is in us level as below figure.

There is no MIN Vs value in Absolute Maximum Ratings of INA220 datasheet.

Could you help is there any risk for INA220 with such overshoot?

Best Regards,

Nick Dai

  • Hi Nick,

We never characterized such condition. We cannot give any guarantees in such scenario. The -1V by itself will not damage INA220 if there are no voltages on other pins. The problem is if there are voltages on other pins. Most dangerous are the input pins as they could be at 26V. It can create a latch up condition.
