LMH3401: LMH3401 maximum input current

Part Number: LMH3401

Hello,

The data sheet for LMH3401 says that the absolute maximum input current is 10 mA. Does this limit apply to any kind of input current, or is it just a limit on input current that goes through an ESD diode?

In a DC-coupled level shifting application there will be a standing current in the feedback network and when applying some signal, it is quite easy to get input currents higher than 10 mA, even though the input and output common modes are well within the recommended range and the amplifier is far from saturated. It seems a bit odd if the amplifier would not be happy in a situation like this, while I can imagine that 10 mA through an ESD diode might be a problem.

So the questions is if it is fine to have more than 10 mA of input current provided the amplifier is not saturated.

Best regards
