INA220 V_Bus

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA220, INA220EVM

Hi

i decided to use the INA220 for my application.

After getting it to work i got some trouble with the registers...

I can read the V_Shunt register and it contains the correct value.

But the V_Bus register always contains the value 50 or 58 (decimal) no matter what voltage is applied to the corresponding pin.

I use HighSideSensing with wiring as on the first page of datasheet. The bus and V_in+ are connected to the samespot.

Is there something special to do to get this to work?

Grtz

  • Hi J.K.,

There isn't anything special required in order to communicate with the VBus register.  The register contents, once read, does need to be shifted in order to calculate the corresponding value represented by the register value.  Notice that the LSB for the VBus register is the D3 bit not D0.  What is the original register contents that you are reading from the VBus register?  What is the value read from the configuration register at power up?  Are you using the INA220EVM and EVM software?

  • Hi,

thx for your answer, but after replacing the device with another one everything works.

seems as if it was defective or not properly soldered.

i am using an own application, not evm.

    greetings
