LMP8646: Help selecting appropriate product

Part Number: LMP8646

Hello,

My circuit is:

7.2 Vmax 210 F super cap >>

Boost Coverter to 8.4 volts @ approx 5 A (depending      on charge of Lithium ion Batterry  >>  

Current limit to 2 A max >>

Load (2) 8.4 v parallel lithium ion batteries.

Will the LMP8646 be appropriate for this goal?  I essentially need to limit the capacitor discharge current to 2 amps and would like to do this with out resistor current limiting.

    Hi Thomas,

    Unfortunately, I don't have experience with supercap applications but I would recommend you take a look at datasheet application #1 circuit (Page 17 datasheet). There is detailed design procedure and how to choose components.

    I am trying to understand your circuit. You want to connect the lithium ion batteries in parallel with the supercap? Your circuit looks something similar to Application #1 schematic?
