AMC1200-Q1: current sensing in EV BMS

Part Number: AMC1200-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1200, TIDA-00445

Hi Team,

My customer is trying to use AMC1200_Q1 for current sensing in EV BMS.

is it available to sense high side using shunt resistor that with input voltage is around 200~300V? I think it's not possible since input voltage is 0~5V.

do you also have any application notes or reference schematics for current sensing?

Thanks,

Ian

  • Hi Ian,

The normal input voltage range to the AMC1200 is +/-250 mV, with a supply voltage of 5 V. To implement a high side current sensing scheme, you would need to provide an isolated power rail that was floating above the high side return. You can take a look at TIDA-00445 for starters as a reference.
