XTR117: Current loop circuit

Part Number: XTR117
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: XTR111,

Hello Sir,

I am designing a system having several current loop output boards and there are some current loop input boards. My system is working on a single 30vdc power supply. The loop supply 24vdc is supplied from this main 30vdc supply for both input and output boards. Do i need to provide separate power supplies for loop 24vdc? Is there any isolation needed ?

I also refered the above links.

I am attaching a part of my schematics(i have 16 such output circuits in my system), kindly check this also.

  • You cannot use XTR117 as shown. You need to use a 3-Wire 4-20mA transmitter like XTR111 for your module.  Also you should put a pull down resistor on AIN1 and AIN2 so when they are not used you do not leave the input of the op  floating which can oscillate....

  • Dear Tim Green,
    Thank you for you reply.

I modified the circuit by adding a linear optocoupler that i attached here, kindly take look it.

I also want to connect a ph sensor(S272CD) to the current loop, that give the output from -2000mV to +2000mV.
Will it accept the negative voltage ?
Is there any current loop converter having negative input support ?
Can you suggest a method to convert the voltage into 0v to 5v range ?
    waiting for your reply
    Regards
