LMH3401: Thermal Pad?

Part Number: LMH3401

Does the LMH3401 have a thermal pad under the device?  The package drawings in the data sheet do not show a thermal pad, but the notes under the drawings refer to connecting the device to a thermal pad.

If it does indeed have a thermal pad, where can we find a drawing showing the pad dimensions and recommended layout pad?

    Hello Mark,

    There is no separate thermal pad on the LMH3401.  The recommendation is that wherever possible pins be connected to a copper plane with the ability to draw heat from the device. 


    For example, there are V+, V- and GND pins that can be connected to a large plane in the board layout.  While it is not always possible to dedicate an entire layer of your system design to each of these it is still the ideal design.  Our EVM will have one layer for V-, one layer for V+ and two full layers for Ground.  In addition we have ground fill on the top and bottom sides of the EVM.
