Op amp with OVP for the microphone!

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA2377

Hello Team,

We are looking to replace ADA4177-1ARMZ in our customer's project.
Can you help to find the right solution?
The most critical features that ADA4177 has:
1)It can work with 32V input voltage(OVP).
Supply voltage should be 5V(or 3.3V even better).
2)Low noise is also very important, because they need good GSM/GPS signal.

End application is the microphone in automotive GPS Tracker. In this case they dont need such wide gain bandwdith as ADI has(3.5MHz)

Which replacement could you suggest?

  • Hello Ilya,

Our precision operational amplifiers do not feature the ability to withstand a 32 V input over-voltage. The internal ESD protection is part of the reason and the other being that wasn't a design criteria. In many cases a simple input current limiting using an input resistor will protect the amplifier from an EOS event. If that 32 V over-voltage requirment isn't an absolute must-have, then there are TI op amps that provide comparable or better electrcial performance to the one listed.

The OPA2377 is rated with a typical 5.5 nV/rt Hz voltage noise at 1 kHz, and will work nicely down to a supply level of 2.2 V. You can review it here:

There are other amplifiers we could recommend as well.

    Regards, Thomas
