THS4631: Want to Connect NC pins with Vs+/Vs-/GND

Part Number: THS4631

Good Morning,

I would like to get information of THS4631. Right now, I am in the middle of layouting the PCB board using THS4631. In order to make a wider trace, I would like to utilize the NC pins (1,8,5).

The question is: can I make a connection from NC to Vs-/Vs+/GND. According to your datasheet, NC means no internal connection, but based on my past experience they use the NC as testing pins.

Thanks,

Yo Shua

  • Hey Yo,

May I ask to what parts you are referencing to which you've seen the lead frame still attached to the chip internally for test; was it an opamp? Typically connections that are present on "NC" lines are there for test like you've said but it is typically a programming channel for more complex parts.

Personally, I've never seen this type of part with internal connections so I'd bet you're good to go with tying it to whichever rail you'd like. This believe is backed by not only my experience but by a colleague that has wealth of experience when he had the same question posed to him about a high speed op amp, the E2E post can be seen here.

Additionally, I see that your account is linked to Georgia Tech, probably meaning that you're a student. If your project is for research/personal/academic it is most likely a one off and you can just trim off the leads by hand so you wont have those pins interfere. Finally, if you'd like, I can order some samples and test them out for you! This will take time however and I can't give you an answer until they arrive in the middle of next week (I don't think this is necessary).

If this answered your question please verify the answer so that I know I helped by hitting the green verification button below! If you have any additional questions just let me know and I will try to answer them for you quickly and accurately.

    Best Regards,

    Nick
