Hello,

1) is there any difference between PIR module(digital output HIGH/LOW) like (penasonic, parallax) and TLV8544PIR?

2) is it possible to detect stationary human using TLV8544PIR with some software algorithms?

3) what is the purpose of giving analog output of each stage along with digital output?

4) how to use this device for best performance?

  • Hello,

The answer to your questions is as follows:

    1. Please provide a specific Panasonic part number before I can answer this question.
    2. For detecting stationary objects you need to use a thermopile sensor, the PIR sensors generate a valid signal for moving object in the field of view only.
    3. The analog signals can be digitized and post processed by an algorithm for more accurate detection of different types of moving objects in the field of view. The access to the analog signal at each stage provides flexibility to analyze the signal from the sensor, for validity.
    4. Please read application note SNAA301A, "Design of Ultra-Low Power Discrete Signal Conditioning Circuit for Battery-Powered Wireless PIR Motion Detectors" at the link Below.
