INA180: Input current limitation

Hi

We are considering INA180 for low side current sensing.

Does it have limitation for maximum current for sink input?

For example, If shunt resistor is opened, the current would flow into input pins.

    It does not have limitations on the current 'per si'. It will draw some, as shown on plot 20 of the datasheet.

    This is for each input.

    What needs to be considered is that these inputs must never rise above 26V or fall below -300mV, measured from the device GND pin.

    Thank you for your reply.

    We are supposing the situation like following.

    In above figure, 

    ① Assumed Rsense is opened suddenly while in normal operation. (e.g. Rsense has damaged, etc)

    ② I concern possibility that a current at most 14A, would flow into INA180 transiently.

    Could not it be problem?

    In principle this should be fine. We test our parts with 20V common mode voltage changes and found no issues.

    One thing to be aware: If the load has inductive properties the voltage across it may spike or become negative when RSense fails. Under such circumstances, the inputs must be protected against transients below -0.3 or above 26V or the part will be damaged.
