INA220: Asking for the IN220 schematic reveiw

Part Number: INA220

Hi Team,

1. Customer would like to use INA220 to monitor 150A current.
2. The current sense resistor is 2512 package, power ratings from 1W to 3W.

Could you help review the schemati and could you confirm these resistors ratiing is enough for 150A monitoring?

Thanks,

SHH

  • SHH,

Assuming the 0.0005 ohm resistors are well matched, then each resistor should carry 1/4 of 150A, so 150A/4 = 37.5A will flow through each shunt.  Power = I^2*R = 37.5^2 * 0.0005 = 0.7 W.  If the resistors are each 3W resistors, then they should be able to handle the power, unless I'm missing something.
