XTR115: Temperature Range Miss Information

Part Number: XTR115
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: XTR116,

Hello,

Can you explain to me the difference between Specification, operational, and maximum temperature?

On the first page of the data sheet, it is stated, “The XTR115 and XTR116 are specified for operation over the extended industrial temperature range, –40°C to +85°C.”  The “Packaging Information” table also lists all devices with this Op Temp range.

However, the table on page 2 and the “Absolute Maximum Ratings” chart on page 3 both specify an operating temp range of –55°C to +125°C

Regards,

David

  • Hey David,

The specified temperature is the range over which datasheet specs can be guaranteed. The part will operate within the min/max limits for any given spec.

The operating temperature is the range over which the device will function properly without damage, but some of the specs may drift outside of the bounds specified in the table and performance is not guaranteed.

The absolute maximum rating is the limit past which the device may be permanently damaged. In this case, the absolute max is the same as the operating temperature, so the device will operate as intended until the thermal limits are exceeded and it sustains damage.
  • You're awesome.
