Something Better Than The MAX4444

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS3491

I'm looking for a highspeed differential-to-single-ended analog amplifier, such as (and ideally much better than) the MAX4444, which on the plus side has 500MHz+ small- and large-signal bandwidths for a gain of 2, and high input impedance, but burns a lot of power, has rather poor input bias current and offset voltage, and is generally not very well speced (no input capacitance spec for example).  Something better than this 20-year old design should be available somewhere :)

  • Hi Daniel,

Although, we don't have a fixed gain diff-to-single ended analog amplifier such as the MAX4444, I believe you should be able to design a difference amplifier using the THS3491 in a gain of 2. The THS3491 should be able to meet your requirement with good SFDR performance for large output swings. You could use the below circuit operating at +/-15V or +/-7.5V supplies in-order to achieve the Diff to single-ended conversion using the THS3491.

    Best Regards,

    Rohit

  • Rohit,

Thanks for your suggestions; I'll consider them.
