INA149: Suitable Part for my application

Part Number: INA149
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA326

Hi,

I was searching for a differential/instrumentation amplifier that can measure voltage in the range of 0.5V to 2V (measuring AA cell's voltage connected in series, 3 cells).  The supply voltage of the amplifier will be 2.8V which is external and not from AA cells.

I found INA149 which seems to be working for me but looking into details I found that part will actually be overkilled for the application. It has more electrical ratings than required and because of that part is also bulky (SOIC). Could you suggest some part or alternate suitable for my application?

Regards,

Manoj Rahel

  • Hi Guys,

I am waiting. Could you suggest something?

  • Hi Manoj,

The difficulty here is that the battery is a floating voltage source and you need to make sure you remain within your input common-mode voltage range (relative to supply ground). You may consider using the INA326, which can accommodate input voltages slightly past the supply rails. This would allow you to connect connect the negative battery terminal (and negative INA input) to supply ground so that the battery is not floating.
