How to terminate the current monitor pin on OPA569 in a bridge tied load configuration

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA569, TMP20

Hi,

My customer is using OPA569 to drive a TEC in a bridge tied load configuration, as shown on Fig 20 in  the data sheet.  Vcc=5V.  Vset = 2.5V.

Question:  How should Vm (the other end of the current monitor resistor) be terminated?  Should it be tied to 1/2 Vcc?  Should it be tied to the output of the other amplifier so that Vm is at the same potential as the opposite side of the TEC, as the data sheet suggests?

Thanks,

Rick

  • The resistor should be terminated to ground and can be monitored at the actual Imonitor pin itself.  FYI--for another look at using the OPA569 in a BTL to control the temperature of a TEC, check out Figure 13 in the TMP20 data sheet.
