INA240: power supply for INA240

I am planning to use the INA240 for current sensing in a BLDC motor control application. The output of the INA240 needs to swing between 0 and 3V, centered around 1.5V. Is it possible for me to run the INA240 off a 3V reference and use the reference pins to center the output at 1.5V? The INA240 specifications are listed for a supply of 5V - how much do the specifications degrade if I run from 3V?

My alternative is to just run the INA240 from a 5V supply and use a 1.5V reference input to the reference pins.

    Hi Timothy,

    The supply voltage of INA240 is 2.7V to 5.5V, any supply voltage within this range is acceptable. As far as degradation, changes on the VS will affect PSRR specification value. In order to address this, the INA240 datasheet the PSRR spec is guaranteed for the entire supply voltage range. See below:

    Thanks for the prompt response. After I posted, I checked the specification for positive maximum output swing, and typical is (Vs - 50mV) and maximum is(Vs - 200mV). If I ran off 3V, this would limit my output voltage swing too much for my application. The ground side specification is much better - worst case only 10mV above ground. So I think that I will go with my alternate circuit configuration - connect Vs to 5V, and add a 1.5V reference into the reference inputs.

    Thanks for the quick response. After I posted, I realized that the voltage output would be limited (Vs - 50mV typical, 200mV max), and this would be too much for my application. So I will need to use the alternative configuration => Vs=5V and use an external reference set to 1.5V .
