Amplifier saturation in current sensor

Hi,

we want to implement a current sensor to detect current flow. The concern is that the current value is the range -5/5A. We want a good accuracy the the lower range around 0A, (no current). If we design our current sensing to have a good accuracy around 0A, the output amplifier will saturate when above a given current flow (say for sake of example 1A). 

Is this a problem for the output amplifier ? Is there any risk to destroy it ?

    The output of the amplifier will saturate to near-supply-voltage but overdriving this should not damage the device. There may be a little recovery time as the amplifier returns to operate in the linear range (see example figures 29 and 30 of the INA180 data sheet). As long as you don't exceed abs max conditions, it is unlikely that you will have any issues with overdriving the output.
