high voltage op amp

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA454

Hello,

for a biomedical application, I need an op amp that

* has a >120V peak to peak

* can provide at least 60ma

I searched the TI product list and couldn't find any. Can you please suggest a possible solution from TI portfolio?

thanks

  • Hello Rifo,

    Your electrical requirements are just beyond the reach in terms of HV, or current, that any of our op amps can provide. The closest that any product comes to meeting >120 Vpp and >60 mA outputs is the OPA454, but it still doesn't quite make it. OPA454 datasheet Figure 67 shows a method for increasing the HV capability to well beyond 120 Vpp, but it requires three op amps and will still be limited to 50 mA output drive current.

    There are techniques shown on line where external HV transistor circuitry is added after a low-voltage op amp's to increase the output voltage capability. Those circuits usually require adding a substantial amount of discrete components, but they should be able to do what you need.

  • Hello Thomas,

    Thanks a lot for your answer. I will put this in mind in the component selection process.
