Dear Sir,

Currently, i'm using INA139 with my charge controller for current sensing, which is 24V. Since the INA139 common mode voltage is around 36V. It is very useful for my application.Now I would like to design a 48V charge controller, also my battery voltage is maximum 60V. Can I able to use INA169-Q1 for my application. Common mode voltage for INA169 is 60V(operating condition) and 75V (absolute maximum rating).

- Power supply for the current sensor - 12V

- The allowable full-scale output voltage - 3.3V

- Device frequency response needed (do you want to measure AC or DC current?) - DC Current

- How low can common-mode voltage go? - 42V

 

Kindly please suggest whether I can use INA169 for my 43V-60V Battery Current sensor ?.

    I hope working with our products has been useful. If your common-mode voltage ranges from 43V to 60V, then the INA169 should work just fine. You say the common-mode voltage can go to -42V. The INA169 cannot support this common-mode voltage. The Absolute minimum common-mode voltages for the INA169,INA168, INA139, INA138 are -0.3V. Because of this you may want to consider negative voltage protection with clamping diodes. You can read more about this here:

    Actually the lowest common mode voltage is around +10V.Also with your reply my battery will goes max upto 62V also I'm using it for my li ion charger application,so that INA169 will withstand the common voltage of upto 62 V.

    Am I correct..?

    The recommended operating conditions on TI’s datasheets are the parameters under which TI can guarantee performance of our devices. Exceeding the maximum ratings will cause damage.

    Operating the INA169 with a common mode voltage of 62V will not be problematic, but performance is unspecified.

    If a current output device is not necessary, a high common-mode voltage, high accuracy device we have is the INA240: its VCM can reach 80V with low drift over temperature and operate on a 2.7V to 5.5V supply as described on the product page here: http://www.ti.com/product/ina240 .
