WEBENCH® Tools/TL3474: output of non-inverting amplifier is not expected

Part Number: TL3474
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA172

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Dear Specialists,

My customer is using WEBENCH amplifier designer and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

I am confirming TL3474 non-inverting amplifier by webench.

When I set 500kHz pulse input, the output waveform was not be distorted and its amplitude became small.

I'd like to know why this waveform is output.

Is this the specification of WEBENCH?

If so, I think it can not confirm my circuit.

---

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • Hi Shinichi-san,

I'm not quite sure what is being asked. Does the customer expect a more distorted waveform and is confused about why the webench results do not show it? I believe that the Webench system is a little limited so I would recommend evaluating with TINA or another spice program and our real models.

I've attached a file with the circuit shown above using the OPA172, a good replacement for the older TL3474 (which doesn't have a good model). Let me know if there are any further questions on this circuit or clarification required.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand WEBENCH amplifier designer has kind of limitation and can't output with distortion.

I'll share this information with the customer.

I appreciate your great help and cooperation.

    Best regards,
    Shinichi
