TLV172: PSPICE model problem

Part Number: TLV172
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM358, TINA-TI

Hello,
customer has simulation problems with the TLV172 PSPICE model (see attachment). Btw, the lower LM358 reaches this simulation but not the needed values.

  • Hi Holger,

I'm not understanding the problem that the customer is having. It appears to me that the screenshots you supplied are for the LM358 model, not the TLV172 model. From my reading of the errors, it seems that this is a simulator settings issue and not a model issue.

Can you provide more clarity about the issue - circuit configuration, length of transient sim, etc.?

    Thank you,
    Paul
  • My apologies - I accidentally clicked "TI thinks resolved" - please ignore.

  • Hello,
attached you find the TLV172 (as differential amplifier) schematic and settings. He wants a single static (DC) simulation.

  • Hi Holger,

I will try to replicate this circuit in Cadence and see if I have any issues, please allow me a couple days to do so. In the meantime, I would encourage the customer to use TINA-TI to get the sims working.

  • Hi Holger,

I was able to put the circuit into Cadence and didn't see any issues with the model. Everything convergences and simulates well. After reviewing the information you provided me from the customer, I saw that the simulator is complaining about not having a 0V ground node. I recommend that the customer change the ground symbol in their circuit to one which has a 0 next to it.

This question is about the TLV172, but the attachment show the LM358 being used, which is a model that is old and unreliable. Which model is actually being used?

Please see the attached project files - have your customer try them and see if they work.

    Thanks,

    Paul
