AMC1100: Output is faulty when power on

Part Number: AMC1100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1301

I am using AMC1100 DUB in my Inverter Design. schematics is attached.

1)- when I power up the device +400V DC = 0V , INV_+5V_DC=05VA=5V  and I am getting VOUT(-) = 4V, VOUT(+)=1.5V.

2)- when I run the INVERT MODE +400V DC = 400V , INV_+5V_DC=5V5VA=5V  and I am getting VOUT(-) = 2V, VOUT(+)=3.02V.  Potential difference of 1.02V which is right. but when I turn off the INVERTER MODE   +400V DC = 0V , INV_+5V_DC=0V5VA=5V will get VOUT(-) = 1.5V, VOUT(+)=4V. and VOUT(+)/VOUT(-) toggling the common mode voltage Randomly.

I want to confirm with TI is device Issue or we have to use this IC differently ?

  • Hi Tahir,

Welcome to our E2E forum! You say above that the VCM is toggling randomly. VCM could toggle when you remove/apply your 5VA supply (the VDD2 source), but it should not toggle 'randomly'. The output state of VOUT+ and VOUT- could change though when toggling the VDD1 supply. It depends on the state of the signal going over the isolation barrier at the point where VDD1 is lost. The AMC1100 does not offer a 'fail-safe' operation mode. If this feature/function is critical to your application, please take a look at the pin-2-pin compatible AMC1301 device.
