THS4303: Powerdown functionality

Part Number: THS4303

Hey there

I know from the datasheet, that the THS4303 powerdown cannot be used as an output tri-state function, but what is the S21 over frequency for the powerdown case? Unfortunately, the datasheet only gives numbers for the other three S-Parameters, but not for S21.

And, is it allowed to apply input signals to the THS4303 while in powerdown mode?

Cheers

Fabian

  • Hi Fabian,

The S21 over frequency should be very similar to the S12 shown in the datasheet for power down mode, because the output becomes tri-state (or high impedance shown by S22) and there is complete isolation from the non-inverting input to the output. I am assuming that you are using the THS4303 in non-inverting configuration.

It should be ok to apply input signals to the THS4303 while in power down mode as long as the input voltage is limited within abs maximum voltage rating or +/-Vs provided in the datasheet. If you look at the THS4303 schematic on page 5, the input ESD protection diodes will start turning on if the input voltage exceeds the supplies and this operation should be avoided at all times in-order to protect the inputs.

    Best Regards,
    Rohit
