INA300: Asking for the INA300 schematic review

Part Number: INA300

Hi Team,
Customer has request on INA300 to do the current sensing.
spec: 19.5V/12A.

  • Hello SHH,

Thanks for reaching out on the forum. From this schematic, I deduce your client's over-current condition is around 12.07A and they are are operating in transparent mode to automatically re-enable current flow when the load is sufficiently low. I suspect that if the MTB5D0P03FP PMOS cuts off power to the entire system load and not a portion of it, they will have issues with oscillation: Over-current detected=>Alert goes low=>load cut-off=>Alert immediately goes back to high=>overcurrent stimulus still present, over-current immediately detected=>repeat. You probably will need to include extra circuitry to impose a delay.

Other than that, I think R912 needs to be smaller. I verified the operation in TINA and found that the MTB5D0P03FP does not completely shut-off with a 1k at R912. However a 500 ohm seems to work quite well.
