Hi Andrew,
I guess this has to do with the Class-G amplifier topology of THS6132. Class-G uses two power supplies rather than just a single supply. The device operates from the lower supply until output headroom becomes an issue. At this point the device switches the output stage to the higher supply rail. This gives a very efficient design as additional power is only used when required.
