INA231: averaging

Is averaging shown in Table 3 of data sheet moving average or simply average.  I am interested in time required to form average.

    Hello Steve,

    It is simply an average. The process is described on page 11, paragraph 1 of the INA231 (RevC). Here it explains that the device will:

    1. Measure the shunt and bus voltage.
    2. Calculate the current and power.
    3. Store values from 1 and 2 into an accumulator.
    4. Repeat 1,2 and append new values into accumulator.
    5. Repeat 4 until the number of averages set is reached.
    6. Transfer the averaged values into the shunt, bus, current, and power registers.

    To calculate the time required for averaging you just multiply the N averages by the summation of bus and shunt conversion times, which can be each set to differing times.
