LM7171: Why did the marking come off when welding?

Part Number: LM7171

Hi,

I bought the part of LM7171BIMX/NOPB, and when I use them found the marking come off when welding.

The original marking on the part is "BIM" while the marking changed to "AIM" after weld.

Can you give us an explanation why does this happen?

Hi,

The markings are just lightly engraved into the device package material and can be effected by contact with abrasive materials or soldering irons. It is also common that they can become harder to read with the naked eye after cleaning because it can remove any material in the letters that makes them easier to see.

Hi,

I believe some of the device molding compound melted or was touched by a hot iron. The markings are etched into the device, so they can be altered if accidentally touched by a soldering iron.
