OPA549: Fit opa549 on breadboard

Part Number: OPA549

Hello,

Is there a way to fit the opa549 on a breadboard or is there a similar model that does fit?

  • Hi Omar,

I would solder short pieces of wire to the terminals which can be inserted into the breadboard holes. The ends of leaded resistors could be used for that purpose.

And don't forget to apply a heatsink to the OPA549!!

  • Hi Omar,

I am not exactly sure what you mean by a breadboard; is it one of those white, plastic boards in which leaded components can be inserted and interconnected?

If so, I wouldn't recommend trying to use one of those for a very high current op amp such as the OPA549. The contacts on those boards are not rated for the current levels the OPA549 can handle; up to 9 Amps.

You might be able to use a general purpose protoboard. There are some that have long copper traces as opposed to many that have just a single copper pad at each lead hole. I did a quick Google images search and it shows a bunch of different protoboard types. Possibly, one of these might work for your application. You can find the images here:
