PGA281: Gain option

Hi team,

I'm an FAE supporting some industrial companies in Japan.

My customer is looking for following specs PGA.

  • Bandwidth: DC~100kHz
  • Offset Voltage: less than 1mV
  • Gain: 0~20dB

Then, he provided some questions as below.

  1. Could you please propose appropriate device which meets above specs?
  2. The gain configuration of PGA281, is it fixed gain only as shown in Table 1 (P6)?

    All of our PGAs have fixed gain steps, as is shown for PGA281.

    How fine of an adjustment range does your customer require for gain? Typically, our PGAs come in one of 3 gain configurations - Binary (.5x, 1x, 2x, ...), Decade (1x, 10x, 100x, ...), or Scope (1x, 2x, 5x, 10x). Additionally, does your customer need a single-ended input, or a differential input into the PGA?

    My customer is looking for single-end input(±5V input signal), 0~20dB gain with around 8bit gain steps.

    PRAMPS doesn't have a 0-20dB PGA with 8 bit resolution, unfortunately. It's possible that a multiplying DAC or a digital potentiometer could be used to implement this circuit. It may be worth posting a question in the DAC forum to see if they have any input.
