AC OP measure current

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA138, INA139, INA169, INA168, DRV425, AMC1300, INA190

Dear all expert :

Do we have AC OP which can detect current ?

the spec like this : AC90V~125V

                                                       Current 15A

  • Hello  Dustin,

Thanks for considering to use Texas Instruments.  What is the minimum current level you need to measure and what is the frequency of your AC signal?  You might be able to use the INA138, INA139, INA168, or INA169 in the implementation described here.  Alternatively, you might consider using the DRV425 such as described in this technote.  Lastly, you may want to consider some isolation amplifiers like the AMC1300, which can be found here.

  • Hi Patrick :
The min currently level is 10mA
    The frequency is 50HZ/60HZ
Do you have the best suggestion ?
  • Hello Dustin,

I seem to possibly have misunderstood the the AC aspect of your original post, which I presume has your signal swinging between -125V and 125V rather than between 95V and 125V. If in fact the common mode is swinging below zero, most of the devices I recommended above will not work for you, or at least not without some supporting circuitry. You still would be able to use the DRV425 I mentioned above. However, measuring as low as 10mA would be a challenge. Alternatively, I think you should use a current transformer with the secondary biased to a voltage that is within a typical current shunt monitor common mode voltage range. On the secondary side, I would use the INA190 as its small input offset voltage and input bias current is low and would offer the largest measurement range.
