LM2904: what's the current capacity of ESD diode in LM2904DGKR?

Part Number: LM2904

Hi

in my customer application, they see a negative voltage on IN+ and IN-, so customer want to check what's the current capacity of ESD diode in LM2904DGKR?

customer will improve their layout to attenuate this negative voltage.

thanks.

    Hello Max,

As a general rule of thumb, the limit will be about 10 mA.  To avoid coming too close to this maximum, we usually suggest limiting the input current to 1 mA.  The datasheet seems to suggest the same 1 mA limit.

    Regards,

    Daniel

  • Max,

In LM2904, there are no diodes from IN to V+; there is no "power Supply ESD Cell".
The general rule for op amps is that -10mA is not harmful. -1mA is recommended maximum for sustained or repeated input current.
During the negative input current time, the output may not be correct, (inversion aka phase reversal).
