DRV2700EVM: DRV2700EVM

Part Number: DRV2700EVM

Hi everyone,

I have a very basic issue.

I just bougth, received, and followed the quick start guide of the DRV2700EVM to drive piezo. I plug the board to my comptuer with the inclosed USB cable. The LED 5V is ligthing on.

I dowload the GUI here : http://www.ti.com/tool/piezo-console

I installed it,

My computer recognized the board has " TI-Haptics-DRV2700EVM-K V1.1 " in the USB device.

However, when running the GUI, in the USB choosing box, between USB and Connect button, I just hav " 0. " No other match is found. I tried to click on Connect but of course it happens nothing since I did not choose the rigth USB device, because DRV700 does not appear...

What to do ?

Thanks

  • Hi Staehle,

    Welcome to e2e.
Have you tried by updating the EVM firmware? There is firmware update tool in Piezo Control Console -> Help -> Firmware Update.
You need to press and hold SW1 while connecting USB to EVM for firmware update.
What OS are you using? Currently Windows 10 is not supported due to some driver issues that we're trying to fix.

  • Staehle,

Did you got a chance to try the above suggestion? (update EVM firmware)
    Is it working fine now?

  • Hi Ivan,

thank you very much for your answer.

I did not see the first one and was super busy.

I will test tomorrow to update firmware, however all my computer are on Windows 10 and I have also MacOs device.

    What is SW1 ?

    Best regards

  • Vivien,

Please let us know how it goes. Unfortunately I think that trying on Win10 will not work well; you can still use any I2C interface tool to communicate with the device if Win7 system is not available.

SW1 is a switch mounted on the EVM board.

  • Ivan,

    thanks for explanation.

Incredibly, I opend piezo control this morning and then the device appeared in the USB choice. I guess I needed to first open software and then connect USB device... I thought I tried this also but not sur, anyway now it's recognized.

However did not work when push connect button.

I update firmware as you told me, I had two choices

    "DRV2700EVM_v1p7"

    and

    "DRV2700EVM-HV500_v1p4"

I choosed the second one (with no real reason)

updated it, and now it works ! I am connected, even with windows 10.

    Thank you,

    best regards

  • Made a mistake, my board is EVM2700 ( not HV500), change once again firmware, working too !
    thanks
