TL084: Using TL084, Comparator design

Hi team,

I have just design comparator using TL084ID , but it is not working now and i can not find the reason.

Is it ok to design the comparator with TL084ID?

Hi Lee,

yes, allthough the TL084 is an OPAmp and not a classical comparator, it can be used as a comparator. I do it in some of my designs, too. It can be problematic, though, that the TL084 is no input-rail-to-rail OPAmp. Have you considered that?

Can you show a schematic?

The inputs need to be within the input common mode range. That is VCC- + 4V to VCC+ -4V.
When it is not working what are the voltages on VCC- , VCC+, IN+ and IN- pins?
