THS7347: Could THS7347 use for 1080p and WUXGA?

Part Number: THS7347

Customer was using THS7347 as the mux for VGA1 and VGA2, without any issues for the resolution XGA and WXGA.

They plan to use THS7347 as the mux for 1080p and WUXGA in the future.

They want to know (1) if THS7347 is capable? and (2) Is their any design points necessary to be changed?

pixel frequency
XGA(1024x768/60Hz) =65MHz
WXGA(1280x800/60Hz) =83.46MHz
1080P(1920x1080/60Hz) =148.5MHz
WUXGA[1920x12000/60Hz (RB)] =152MHz

Yes, the THS7347 should be capable of handling 1080p signals.

Hi Hasan,

How about the WUXGA application? Is there any document of layout guide for THS7347, and could we use the 4-Layer PCB design. Thanks.

Hello Liao,

The amplifier should also be good for WUXGA applications. Unfortunately, there is no layout guide for this part, however there shouldnt be an issue with using a 4-layer design. The datasheet also mentions, "If the Monitor or Buffer PCB trace is > 25 mm, it is recommended to place at least a 10-Ω resistor in series with each signal to reduce PCB parasitic issues."
