XTR305: Connection of unused IA inputs while configured as current output mode

Part Number: XTR305

Hi,

I'm using XTR305 in current output mode only. The IA is not used and hence the IAout is connected to GND like recommended by the datasheet.

What is the recommended connection of unused IA inputs, IAin+, IAin-, RG1 and RG2 when lowest power consumption is desired?

Thanks,

TKO

  • Hi TKO,

The recommended circuits for voltage output and current output are shown on Figure 41 and Figure 42 p.23/24 of the datasheet.   In Current mode, M1 is set low (or left unconnected) and M2 is set high.  The IA provides a current at the IAout pin that is proportional to the voltage at the IA inputs and can be used to monitor the load voltage. So long as you follow the recommended circuits, there will not be additional current draw.

  • Hi Tamara,

It's unclear to me what the dashed line means.

Can I connect IAin+ and IAin- to GND and leave RG1 and RG2 floating?

    Thank you in advance
    TKO
  • Hi TKO,

I understand your question now, thank you for clarifying. If you are not using the IA at all, leave all four pins floating.

    Since RGAIN=infinity, IIA=0  from datasheet equation (5)
