INA240: current sensing

Part Number: INA240
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA190,

Hello,

In the data sheet of  INA240 we can see that is used for inline current sensing because it has PWM rejection. so my question is: if we want to use low side current sensing (not inline), is it better to use INA240 instead of INA190. is the PWM rejection feature in INA240 offer better performance even in low side current sensing?Is INA240 better than INA190 for a certain application?

Regards,

Mohammad.

  • Hi Mohammad,

Thanks for the question! Our engineers will reply when we return to the office on Monday.

  • Hi Mohammad,

The level of PWM rejection is not required in low side current sensing; therefore using INA240 doesn’t provide additional benefits from common mode rejection perspective. Most current sense amplifiers can work in such a configuration.

Other aspects to consider when choosing which one to use include – mainly speed (slew rate and bandwidth) and negative common mode range. Further consideration is given to accuracy, linear range, gain, power consumption and so on.
