INA200: The Max output current of the CMP_OUT pin

Part Number: INA200

Hi expert,

Could you tell what's the maximum output of the CMP_OUT when this pin output high voltage? Thanks.

  • Hello Lenna,

Thanks for reaching out on the forum. In the absolute maximum ratings section, there is the specification "Input current into any pin" of 5mA. While this appears to correspond to sunk current, the reason for this spec can be extended to current sourced from the device. More current corresponds to more power dissipation which corresponds to more heat. Consequently for thermal reasons and to ensure the longevity of the device, you should limit the output current to 5mA. Also to ensure that the comparator functions correctly, you should have a resistor at least 10x higher than the rdson of the closed drain. As typical pull-ups on logic pins are 1k to 10k, I think it would be safe to presume that the rdson is at least in the tens of ohms.
