Does TI have Current monitor can support Windows E3 (Energy Estimation Engine)

    We do not have a multi-channel device like the PAC1932.

    We do have a single channel device (INA233) that supports power accumulation for monitoring energy like the PAC1932.  Since it is a single channel solution only a single power rail is monitored per device.  A single channel solution is ideal if you only have a few power rails you want to monitor since the PCB layout is much easier. 

    The INA233 is compliant with the hardware needs for E3, but we currently do not have E3 drivers for this device.  If you are writing your own software for E3, the INA233 could be an ideal solution. The low offset of the device allows you to more accurately monitor lower power states in your laptop.  The improved gain error allows you to accurately measure power/energy consumption when the current is high.

  • Also disregard the claim in the PAC data sheet that it does not require an input filter.

    Because of shunt inductance and subsequent aliasing with long term data gathering

    all digital or zero-drift current sensing will require input filters. For someone who has

    never discovered this it may take a year or so of data gathering to figure it out.
