TL071: AEC-Q100 certification

Hi Sir,

My customer is using TL071 on their system for automotive application, but they need AEC-Q100 certification.

May I know if we could use LM218-Q1 to replace it or you have better suggestion?

Hi Patrick,

the TL071 and the LM218-Q1 are totally different.

I would have a look at the following OPAmps: OPA197-Q1, OPA192-Q1, TLV171-Q1, OPA171-Q1 and TLE2071-Q1. If a dual OPAmp can do, then also the TL082-Q1.

Does the replacement have to be the same pinout and package? Are the balance pins needed?

Hi Don,

Customer prefer P2P, but I think that is not a must. For the balance pin, I think it would be better to have, but I am checking with customer.

Hi Don,

I check with customer, they said they only need a general opamp like TL071.

So I propose OPA171-Q1 to them first.

Hi Patrick,

the two "171" have the disadvantge of a much lower slew rate and a much longer settling time compared to the TL071. This can be an issue, if the input of a SAR ADC has to be driven. But the "191" and "192", on the other hand, might be too fast, and this could cause stability issues in a circuit which originally was designed for the TL071. It's difficult to decide, because no one of the alternatives would be a 100% replacement, as so often. So, I would tell the customer this difficulty.
