INA240: Response time

Part Number: INA240

Hi,

my question about the INA240A1 is about the Response time and the Rise time. What are These times?

There is no Information in the datasheet, just the settling time and the slew rate.

How can i get the Response and Rise time?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Jan

  • Hi Jan,

Can you clarify what Response time is? If you use it to refer to delay time, you can read off of this scope plot as indicated by the red vertical lines.

Rise time generally refers to 10-90% slew time of a large step. It is directly related to slew rate. For example if 10-90% of the step is 2V, then RiseTime=(2V)/(2V/uS)=1uS.

  • Slew rate and rise time are seperate, but related issues.

    1. Linear rise time is fixed step size with 10% to 90% being 2.2tau,

    2. If the instantaneous dV/dT exceeds the slew, the linear step will break off and transition at that slew rate.

    3. For really slow parts with a large single step that is mainly showing slew limiting, yes folks will often use the 10% to 90% to report "slew rate"

    4. For fast or slew boosted parts the newest technique is to form the instantaneous dV/dT and look for flat spot in what should be a smoothly varying 2nd response.
