USB2ANY: USB2ANY

Part Number: USB2ANY
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04832EVM

My USB2ANY doesn't work anymore. I plug it into my computer (Windows 7 pro), i can see there is a new entry in Device Manager but the led on the USB2ANY is not turned on fully (it is very dim) and it is not at all recognized by TICs. Can anybody help me with this? Thank you

  • HM

Which EVM are you using this with? This inquiry needs to go to that specific team...I'll direct this thread as needed

    Regards

  • Dennis,

    I am using the LMK04832EVM.

  • Hello HM,

If you are having issues with the USB2ANY, you can reload the firmware using the USB2ANY firmware loader application. You can download it here: http://www.ti.com/tool/USB2ANY (Explorer Software). Once it is installed, navigate to the directory and select the USB2ANY firmware loader. Right now this firmware loader does not work on Windows 10.

  • Hello HM,

Were you able to use the USB2ANY at all before?

Can you please use the USB2ANY_SupportInfo.exe support file generator included in C:\Program FIles (x86)\TI USB2ANY SDK\bin, and upload the compressed support logs?

  • Hi HM,

Were you able to load the firmware using a Win7 computer?

    Hao

  • Hello Derek,

Sorry for such a late reply.

Yes I managed to use it before on my pc last year. It then went into storage and when I tried it early this month, it started to have problems. However I then tried the USB2ANY on another computer running on Windows 10 and somehow that managed to "upgrade" the firmware of the USB2ANY and it started working again on the Win10 PC. However on the Win10 PC I could upload values onto the chip but I can't read values of the register.

Then I tried it again on my PC and it worked! Still some problems with reading values of the chip, however it is still better than not working at all.

  • Hi Hao,

No with a Win7 computer it kind of fails everytime (sometimes it says 'completed' but when I plug the USB2ANY thing again it will prompt the update) . I then just loaded the firmware using another Win10 computer to get it to work for now.

  • Hi HM,

I'm glad that you managed to get it to function some again. I have two thoughts as to what might be happening:

    1. There may be something on the USB2ANY drawing too much current, causing the USB to brown out occasionally. You could try using the USB2ANY through a powered USB hub which provides high supply current from a dedicated source, and see if things improve.
    2. There may be some driver conflict specific to the PCs you are testing. If this is the case, there's not much we can do to help, as there is no longer any active development on USB2ANY.

You mentioned that readback is not working on the LMK04832EVM. Can you make sure that SDIO_RDBK_TYPE is set to push-pull output, and SPI_3WIRE_DIS is not set to 1? Misconfiguring either of these options can disable readback unintentionally.

    Regards,
