LMH5401: Resistor Selection Help

Part Number: LMH5401
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2594,

Team,

If the LMH5401 is driving a differential AC coupled high impedance load like the LMX2594, what do you have to consider in selecting a resistor between the  Out+ and Out-?  Do you have to match the impedance between the amp and the load (LMH5401)?

Thank you.

  • Hi,

I would suggest you pick resistors so that you deliver a nominal load of 200 Ohms differential to the amplifier. You may want to match the impedances depending on how long the trace length is between the LMH5401 and the LMX2594. If they trace lengths are much shorter than 1/4 wavelength than your maximum frequency, then you should be able to use an unmatched trace without much issue. If they are longer than that, you'll want to match the impedances or else you might have reflection issues.

    Regards,
