OPA541: Is the footprint correct?

Part Number: OPA541

I designed an amplifier board with OPA541 footprint from TI.

This footprint indicates the TAB and mold-body on the pin array of No.1 to No.11(odd only) and I placed parts accordingly.

However, after I got the parts and PCB board, I found that the footprint is wrong!

It is unbelievable happening, isn't it?

  • Kaizuka-san,

We need to figure out where the problem resides. Did you download the OPA541AP TO-220 (KV) footprint information from the TI web page and use the .stp file?

    http://www.ti.com/product/OPA541/pinout-quality

I don't have software that can open that file so I don't know what it shows. Can you provide an image of what it shows?

The datasheet shows the OPA541 pin out and the footprint should comply with it.

  • Dear Thomas-san,

The file I downloaded was *.bxl file.  The file you mentioned is 3D-CAD file, which shows the 3D figure of this parts.
    The image is shown below.

I downloaded OPA541_KV_11.bxl and converted to CAD file by using UltraLibrarian.
Below is the screen shot of UltraLicrarian.

    And generated footprint is below.

    I created by myself below.

    Best Regards,

  • Kaizuka-san,

Thank you much for the detailed information. It clearly shows there is a problem with the OPA541 KV_11 package footprint contained in the Ultra Librarian library. The footprint you created on your own is correct when compared the .bxl file information. I will need to let our packaging team know of this error.

I apologize for the inconvenience the software caused you. Sometimes things that are not correct get past the people that create, or review them.
