That would be correct.
The thermal limitation comes from the Gan device. In this design guide, you’ll find board thermal images at different power levels. Hope this information is helpful.

Yes it is possible; the current is modulated through PWM control. The LMG5200 can be fully ON or fully OFF. In between, fractions of the full current can be achieved by turning it on and off for certain portions of time.
