Provision to access flash via micro controller using USB interface for boot loading

We are using "TMS320F28075" micro controller in our design. Currently flash is accessed and programmed using JTAG interface via micro controller ie.PC--->JTAG interace-->Micro controller--->Flash memory

We would like to know if it is possible to use USB interface to program the bootloader to the flash via micro controller i.e PC--->USB interface--->Micro controller--->Flash.

Kindly let us know how can we implement this using "TMS320F28075".The flash memory we are using is SPI Flash "M25P40-VMN6TPB".

Are you asking on how you could program the external flash or the on-chip Flash?

We have an app note that demonstrates using USB boot to load the flash kernel and image to program the on-chip flash: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/spraco7/spraco7.pdf

In case of external Flash, if you are already able to implement the external Flash program using Micro controller, then to replace JTAG with USB, you can use USB boot loader. Check out TRM's BootROM section for more details.

Hi Vamsi,

We are using an External Flash(SPI interface) for boot loader.We would like to provide both the JTAG and USB provision to access the external flash via micro controller.Please let us know if this condition is possible .

Also please guide us on how to implement the same.Our requirement is to access the external flash via both USB and JTAG interface for flashing and the micro controller should be able to boot up.
