INA231: What's the different of INA231A & INA231B Start-Up Mode function?

Part Number: INA231

Hi Sir,

Could you help to explain what's the difference of INA231A & INA231B start up mode function?

  • Hello Teresa,

The difference between the INA231A and INA231B is how they respond when their supply pins (VS) are provided with a valid, operational supply voltage (2.7V ≤ VS ≤ 5.5V). The A version will power up and begin reporting measurements. The B version will remain in a Power-down mode and not begin taking measurement until the host writes to its configuration register (00h), specifically the Mode Setting bits [2:0]. You can see in Table 8, that the default Mode Setting bits are different for the A and B versions. Default bit/register settings are what the device will power up when device power is toggled.

    Hope this is sufficient.

    Best,

    Peter
