INA233: Read/Write LSByte and MSByte confirmation

Part Number: INA233

Hi Team,

According to the datasheet page 20, after the R/W bit high to initiate the read command the next is MSByte. The confusing part is there is a note telling the "Register bytes are sent least-significant byte first, followed by the most significant byte." And the Read Timing diagrams shows also LSByte first before MSByte.

Can you share with me which is correct?

Regards,

_Renan

  • Hi Renan,

The note and timing diagram are correct. Further, within each byte the most significant bit is transmitted first. This is in compliance with PMBus requirement. The word description is likely a leftover from datasheet spin and needs to be revised to be consistent.

Thank you for pointing this out.

    Regards, Guang

  • Hi Guang,

    Thank you for your support.

The Timing diagram shows that LSbyte come first, so this is incorrect right? From your answer "The note and timing diagram are correct".

Second statement is still confusing "within each byte the most significant bit is transmitted first".

Can you please point out which is first transmitted MSByte or LSByte?

    Regards,

    Renan

  • Hi Renan,

The note and timing diagram are correct, ie, LSByte is transmitted first. Then the MSByte is transmitted afterwards.

Within each byte the most significant bit is transmitted first.

Here is the exact wording from the specification, which you can search and find online:
