LMP8640HV: Max current capable of sourcing?

Part Number: LMP8640HV

I have a customer using LMP8640HV-F.

What's the max current the amp can source under the following conditions:

  • Sensing 20A through a .5mOhm shunt resistor
  • 3.3V supply voltage.
  • The output loading is an RC filter into ADC of a MCU. The RC values are 100ohms and 4700pF.

  • Hi Gregory,

have you seen figures 21 and 22 of datasheet? Although the curves are shown for a supply voltage of 5V, I don't think that the performance is much different for a supply voltage of 3.3V.

  • Greg,

Kai is correct here. Unfortunately we don't characterize the LMP8640HV at 3.3V, but I wouldn't expect the performance to be that far off of the graphs in figures 20 and 21 of the datasheet for 5V.

For a tested Vout point of 2.5V on the gainx50(F) variant of the device, it looks like ~3-5mA is where the device begins to lose the ability to regulate the output.
